What is ZipF?

ZipF is a full-stack commerce infrastructure company: own POS hardware, a fully in-house software suite, and a proprietary demand graph of the physical economy. The name is spoken Ziff, the same as George Kingsley Zipf.

ZipF deploys its own commerce terminal into physical merchants, starting with restaurants and cafés in India and the United States on day one. The terminal runs ZipF OS - POS, billing, payments, a QR customer surface, feedback, loyalty, and analytics - as one product. Because ZipF generates the bill, every transaction is captured whether it is paid by UPI, card, wallet, or cash.

The terminal is the merchant's sensor. Every bill becomes a structured commerce event: who (anonymous or repeat), what (line items), where (outlet and neighborhood), when, how much, how they felt, and what happened next. Aggregated across the network, those events are the Commerce Event Graph. That graph is the asset. Intelligence is the product. Merchants, brands, advertisers, and capital-markets desks are the buyers.

The company is not a maps layer, a review site, or a delivery marketplace. Those products see ratings, check-ins, and tickets. ZipF sees the bill that created the demand. Restaurants are the wedge; every checkout counter in the physical economy is the market. There are about 292 million POS terminals installed worldwide. The stack is built once and deploys anywhere.

ZipF was founded in 2026 by Sankalp Shrivastava. The white paper is the public thesis. The Zipf's law page is the namesake: rank-frequency in language, cities, and commerce, measured from actual purchases.

How to say ZipF

Write it ZipF. Say it Ziff. Same as the linguist the company is named for. The capital F is the mark; it is not spelled out as two letters.

What ZipF sells

Sixteen monetization layers sit on one dataset. Later layers do not require new collection. They require packaging, governance, and a sales motion.
